Police say Kazmierczak used a syringe to spray an unknown liquid at Omar during Tuesday's event after she called for the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the firing or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem following the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by immigration enforcement officers. Officers immediately tackled and arrested Kazmierczak, who was jailed on a preliminary third-degree assault charge, police spokesperson Trevor Folke said.
Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside her Bronx apartment on Saturday morning. Leduc County said it was the target of a deliberate cybersecurity attack which disabled some of the county's information technology (IT) systems. A news release issued Sunday afternoon said the county became aware of the incident, which has been identified as a ransomware attack, on Dec. 25. Other IT systems have been proactively disabled during an ongoing forensic investigation. Key stakeholders, including RCMP and the county's insurance and banking providers have been notified.
A young woman has been raped in a 150-year-old park near Whitehall. Around 4.10am on Tuesday, December 2, officers attended Embankment Gardens, following reports of a rape. Police attended and spoke to the victim, a woman aged in her 20s. She is currently being supported by specially-trained officers. Police found the remains of 12-year-old Jacqueline "Mimi" Torres-Garcia in a plastic storage bin last Wednesday behind 80 Clark St. in New Britain, the Farmington Police Department said in a press release. Investigators determined Torres-Garcia likely died in the fall of 2024 while her family was living in Farmington. Evidence suggests she suffered "prolonged" physical abuse and malnourishment before she died, according to police. The girl's mother, Karla Garcia, 29, is charged with murder with special circumstances.
