One person was killed in a collision on the northbound M8 motorway at Carrigane, Mitchelstown at about 9:15pm between junctions 11 and 12. The pedestrian's body was taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was uninjured. Gardaí have closed the section of road while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses and for road users with camera or dash-cam footage from the area at the time to make that footage available, and provided contact details for Fermoy Garda Station and the Garda Confidential Line.
