Joshua Johnson, 18, was killed in a crash on Todwick Road in Rotherham on 13 December, alongside a 17-year-old girl. But South Yorkshire Police (SYP) initially identified Trevor Wynn, 17, as the boy who had died and police informed his family. Meanwhile, Mr Johnson was thought to be injured and under sedation in hospital. However, the force admitted it has now referred itself to the policing watchdog after information came to light, which led to further checks taking place.
The incident took place on the N21 at Ballymurragh West in Templeglantine at around 12.50am. One of the drivers, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a postmortem examination is due to be carried out. Three teenagers, two female juveniles and an adult male, were taken to University Hospital Limerick and University Hospital Kerry for treatment of serious injuries.
Emergency services including local gardaí and fire brigades from Kilkenny city and Thomastown were called to the scene of the crash involving a van and horses on the slip road at Junction 8 on the M9 Southbound at Kilkenny city. The crash occurred at approximately 6am this morning. The occupants of the van did not sustain any injuries, but a number of horses were killed when they were struck by the vehicle.
The collision occurred this morning on the road between Leap and Drinagh in the Corran Middle area of West Cork, between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. The driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene, while no other injuries were reported. Gardaí say that the road remains closed at the moment to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.
A man, aged in his 20s, was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision that occurred at approximately 6.50am on the M8 (J18) motorway southbound, Upper Riverstown in Glanmire. The road remains closed to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
