At least four people were injured in a collision between a sedan and an SUV at Cedar Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue in Newark on the night of Aug. 31. Emergency responders arrived after a call at 10:35 p.m. Following the initial collision, the sedan struck a home on the 5000 block of Lafayette Avenue. The sedan driver and two SUV passengers sustained serious injuries; the SUV driver suffered minor injuries. A resident of the home received treatment at a local hospital. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. The Newark Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating and requests public tips.
At least four people are injured after a car crash involving a sedan and an SUV at a Newark intersection the night of Aug. 31. The Newark Police department and Alameda County Fire Department responded to a call at 10:35 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue involving a collision between an SUV and sedan. After the initial crash, the sedan then hit a home on the 5000 block of Lafayette Avenue, according to the Newark Police Department.
The driver of the sedan and the two SUV passengers were seriously injured while the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Someone in the residence was also treated at a local hospital. It's believed that alcohol was a factor in the incident, according to a police statement. However, the crash is still being investigated by the Newark Police Department Traffic Unit.
