Woman (80s) killed in single-vehicle collision in Co Galway

"Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene of the single-vehicle collision at Rooaun, Eyrecourt, Co Galway at around 8.15pm. The driver and sole occupant of the car, a woman in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Her body was brought to the mortuary at Portiuncula Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course."

"The scene remains preserved for technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to this collision to contact them. Anyone who was travelling in the area between 7.30pm and 8,30pm and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, is asked to make that footage available to investigating gardaí.
