Truck driver killed in multi vehicle crash in Dublin as five other people hospitalised with injuries

A collision on the N7 westbound at Rathcoole, Co Dublin occurred on Friday evening, August 22 at approximately 6.40pm and involved a truck and two cars. The male truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Whitehall morgue for a post-mortem. Five other individuals were taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. The road was closed while garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene and has since reopened. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and requested dash-cam or other camera footage from road users between 6.30pm and 7.00pm.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the fatal crash which involved a truck and two cars on the N7 westbound at Rathcoole in Co Dublin yesterday evening, Friday, August 22 at approximately 6.40pm. The male driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was removed to the mortuary at Whitehall where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
The road was closed for examination by garda forensic collision investigators. The road has since reopened to traffic. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. "Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N7 near Rathcoole between 6.30pm and 7.00pm on Friday August 22 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí," said a garda spokesperson.
