Young woman who died in Tipperary crash was a renowned athlete and camogie player

"Ms Kennedy died in a road traffic crash involving two cars on the Nenagh to Dromineer Road R495, near Nenagh, which occurred at approximately 9pm on Tuesday May 12. A section of the road remained closed for technical examination on Wednesday. Laura was the driver of one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene."

"Her body was later taken to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The coroner has been notified. Ms Kennedy is understood to be from the Ballywilliam area, and was widely known as an excellent athlete, and enjoyed music. Her grandparents are from the area where the accident occurred."

"Laura and her twin Aishling excelled at sport, particularly cross country and camogie, and she played with Burgess Duharra Camogie GAA Club and Tipperary development camogie squads. There was a sense of shock and disbelief in the area, said one local person familiar with the situation."
