San Francisco man charged with carjacking, shooting San Leandro man he met on dating app
A San Francisco man has been arrested and charged with felonies for shooting a man he met on a dating app after consensual sex.
The suspect allegedly attempted to carjack the victim and shot him during a struggle over a gun.
The suspect was identified through his Grindr profile picture and cellphone and arrested at a courthouse for an unrelated gun possession case. [ more ]
The investigation is ongoing into a carjacking incident in Williamsburg, involving a Lamborghini driver and a gunman leading to gunshots and injury to a pedestrian. [ more ]
Cops Are Giving People Free Car Tracking Devices to Combat Thefts
The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. distributed free AirTags and Tile Trackers to some residents to combat rising rates of carjacking.
Washington, D.C. has seen a surge in vehicle thefts and carjackings, with 866 instances of carjacking and 637 involving a firearm.
Thefts have been concentrated in the east half of the city, with 144 arrests made and 65 percent of arrestees under the age of 18. [ more ]
