Authorities are investigating an incident caught on video of a man assaulting someone trying to protect a fellow Caltrain passenger whom the attacker was verbally harassing. The incident took place on December 23 at the San Carlos station, and the Good Samaritan was taken to the hospital with facial fractures. [KTVU] Parts of Marin County experienced heavy flooding Friday, and a flood advisory was in effect along the coast of the Bay Area through Sunday.

According to the FBI's Crime Data Explorer (CDE), in 2023 there were 1,201,857 violent crimes committed in the United States. Violent crimes include homicide, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. 945,601 of those crimes were committed by people in the age group of 20-29. The shooting, which also resulted in serious injuries to two others, took place early Saturday morning on the college town's main street. Transit police are investigating a stabbing on board a Bronx subway train Tuesday night that left a man seriously injured. According to police sources, the incident took place at around 10:42 p.m. on Sept. 30 on a northbound 4 train at the 149 Street-Grand Concourse station. Two people have been taken to hospital following an arson attack in Armagh city, police said. The incident happened at an establishment in the Irish Street area of the city at around 8.55pm on Monday.
