A shooting near Howard University has left at least four people shot, police in Washington DC said. The shooting happened as thousands descended on the campus for homecoming celebrations. Police responded to shots being fired at 8.23pm on the 600 block of Howard Place, near the university's Yard and the School of Architecture building. Police say the shooting left one person in critical condition and one person in serious condition.
Police in Kennebunk, Maine are looking for a man who, they say, pocketed more than $7,000 in cash that was left in a roadway after falling off the roof of a car. A report of stolen property came in on Oct. 15, the Kennebunk Police Department said on Facebook. "An older male was seen picking up approximately $7,400 in cash that had fallen from the roof of the car of its rightful owner. The money was from the sale of a vehicle," the department said.
PARIS A brazen robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris Sunday morning has left investigators searching for several men who made off with what officials describe as "priceless" jewels. A spokesperson for the museum told NPR the suspects entered shortly after the museum opened, breaking in through a window that led to the Apollo Gallery, which houses some of the museum's most valuable treasures. Armed with small chainsaws and box cutters, they smashed display cases before fleeing on Yamaha TMax scooters toward a nearby highway.
By Bay City Two teenagers were shot in Stockton's Civic District early Saturday morning. The 17 and 18-year-old boys were in the 1300 block of North Lincoln Street at about 2 a.m. when they were both shot, according to the Stockton Police Department. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries, and both were expected to survive.
Officers from the 70th Precinct responded to a 911 call about the incident and examined the remains, which were confined within a garbage bag. The remains were a man's head and torso, according to published reports. An official police report said the male had suffered trauma to the body. The incident happened at the 57th Street subway station in Midtown around 11:10 p.m. A 39-year-old man was found slashed in the left hand, and a 37-year-old man who was pushed onto the tracks suffered an elbow injury.
Police are searching for five suspects after a jewelry store in Dufferin Mall was robbed on Saturday night. Around 7:20pm on Saturday, five masked suspects entered the store and took merchandise, Toronto police said on social media following the incident. Two of the suspects were armed with hammers, according to police Police said the suspects smashed the store's display boxes but no injuries were reported.
Police are concerned for the safety of a young woman reportedly kidnapped in east London. A 42-year-old man from east London was arrested last Wednesday on suspicion of kidnap in relation to the incident and bailed while enquiries continue. Three male suspects are believed to have stolen around $200,000 from a jeweler at knifepoint when he stopped to fix a flat tire in Woodland Hills on Monday evening. QUEENS, NY - Police are searching for a suspect who shot a 15-year-old boy on a Queens street Tuesday afternoon. The incident happened near the intersection of Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike around 2:50 p.m., police said. Officers found the boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Cohen Children's Medical Center in stable condition. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, police said.
OAKLAND - A man was found fatally shot Tuesday morning in an East Oakland park, authorities said. Authorities were trying to identify the victim and notify any next of kin before publicly releasing his name. He was found dead just before 8 a.m. Tuesday in Arroyo Viejo Park, not far from the entrance at Olive and Ritchie streets. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.
Police are searching for a suspect who fatally assaulted a fellow patient inside Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx last month, law enforcement sources said. According to the NYPD, Cynthia Vann, of Concourse Village, was admitted to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln on Sept. 10 for an unrelated medical condition when she was punched multiple times in the head by another patient as she slept and required emergency surgery. Vann remained hospitalized in critical condition until she died on Sept. 27.
