Man charged with arson, kidnapping, carjacking in North Bay after leading police in pursuit

Napa and Lake County officials are pursuing charges including arson, kidnapping and carjacking after a string of connected incidents. Prosecutors filed court documents describing an intentionally set 2-acre fire that began near Highway 175 and McKinley Drive. The criminal complaint alleges the suspect carjacked an individual and led officers on a pursuit that began on Highway 29 near Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. The complaint alleges an attempt to steal a patrol vehicle followed by the theft of a Jeep Wrangler containing a child. The pursuit ended at a dead end near Calistoga, where the suspect was taken into custody. The child is reported to be OK.
Arson, kidnapping, carjacking -- those are just some of the charges a suspect is facing in a wild string of crimes across Napa and Lake County. Napa County prosecutors shared court documents with us laying out the crime spree. It included a 2-acre fire that investigators say the suspect intentionally set on Thursday. That fire started near Highway 175 and McKinley Drive in Lake County.
