Morgan Hill Police used the city's automated license plate reader system and located the truck traveling north on Monterey Road near Cochrane Road."

The suspect leapt from the vehicle while still in gear, causing the Dodge Ram to roll forward into a parked car, according to police. Officers gave chase and arrested the suspect, Robert Cordova, 29, on suspicion of carjacking."

Officers attempted a traffic stop near Monterey Road and Palm Avenue; the driver fled, drove off-road behind a home on the 9000 block of Monterey Road, and jumped from the vehicle while it was in gear, causing it to roll into a parked car. Officers chased and arrested 29-year-old Robert Cordova. Officers found a single bullet in his pants pocket and later recovered a fanny pack containing a loaded handgun on a nearby roof after surveillance showed Cordova throwing it there. Cordova was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of carjacking, evading police, violating probation and illegal firearm possession.
