San Mateo: Two men arrested on suspicion of carjacking, assault
"The victim told police that he had been walking away from his parked and idling vehicle when he saw another vehicle pull up next to it, authorities said. A person exited the vehicle and entered the victim's vehicle. When the victim attempted to pull the suspect out of the driver's seat, a physical altercation broke out and the suspect lunged at the victim with a knife, authorities said. The victim was not injured."

The primary suspect was in custody for an unrelated incident and had carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon charges added to his booking sheet, police said."
Just before 5 a.m. on June 8, a reported stolen vehicle incident occurred on the 700 block of South Humboldt Street in San Mateo. The victim said he was walking away from his parked, idling car when another vehicle pulled up and a person entered the victim's vehicle. A physical altercation occurred when the victim tried to pull the suspect from the driver's seat, and the suspect lunged with a knife; the victim was not injured. The suspect fled in the victim's car and the accomplice drove away. A months-long investigation by the San Mateo Police Department identified a 25-year-old and a 22-year-old Oakland residents as the primary suspect and driver. The primary suspect was already in custody for an unrelated incident and had carjacking and assault-with-a-deadly-weapon charges added. The driver was located with assistance from the California National Guard and arrested in a multi-agency operation; both were booked into jail.
