Bay Area driver arrested for 'deliberate' pedestrian crashes near UC Berkeley
"The suspect allegedly hit two Berkeley residents who were walking on the sidewalk in the 2700 block of Belrose Avenue, located south of the college campus, Perry said. The pedestrians were a 30-year-old man walking his dog and a 46-year-old woman who was jogging. Both people were injured and taken to a local trauma center, and they're now in stable condition."
"In addition to the crashes, the suspect is also accused of two carjackings that occurred on Garber Street. Both of the carjackings involved women who were in the car and driving their children, Perry said, but no one was physically injured. Police eventually arrested the 26-year-old driver on College Avenue after he allegedly tried to steal a car. The man, who did not have any history with the local police, was booked into the Berkeley Police Department Jail."
