They were able to recover additional body parts from the water. Those parts appear to have been clean cut. That is, they were severed with a sharp force instrument. We did not recover a full body. The search is continuing for additional body parts, but we were able to make an identification from the body parts that were recovered.
Two women were found dead on a hiking trail on Wednesday afternoon, and during the investigation, a third woman was found dead in a home in Wayne County, the Utah Department of Public Safety said in a news release on Thursday.

More than a year after a deadly home invasion in Mississauga, Peel police say seven people have been arrested, and three have been charged with murder. The arrests are the result of a "complex and lengthy" homicide investigation into the death of Ruo Zhou Wei, 55, police said in a news release Monday. Wei was shot inside his home near Central Parkway W. and Confederation Parkway just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2024. He later died in hospital.
OAKLAND Police here have arrested a suspect in an ambush-style shooting that targeted two brothers who operated a late-night lingerie store in an area known for prostitution, according to jail records. But what authorities can't explain thus far is why it was so important for 30-year-old Christian Mendoza to wait in an alleyway on the 1600 block of Solano Way, then fire several shots into a Toyota Prius, killing 28-year-old Zinatullah Hedayet. The shooting happened around 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 19.
A man is dead after he was shot several times in a commercial plaza in Vaughan on Monday in what police are calling a targeted incident. The shooting happened in the area of Weston Road and Colossus Drive, according to York Regional Police. Emergency personnel were called to the scene, which was outside a business, shortly after 1 p.m. York Region Paramedics said they took the man to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities received a call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon in the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue at 7:53 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The victims - a man, a woman and a 17-year-old girl - suffered gunshot wounds to their upper torsos, said Deputy David Yoo. They were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

SUNNYVALE An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a woman Wednesday night in Sunnyvale, authorities said. The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of Vienna Drive, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A strong earthquake in Mexico on Friday morning disrupted President Claudia Sheinbaum's first press conference of the new year. The 6.5 magnitude earthquake's epicenter was located near the town of San Marcos in the southern state of Guerrero, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. One man died and another remained in critical condition Tuesday following gunfire Monday night, police said. Authorities did not identify the 36-year-old dead man immediately, pending notification of relatives. They said he was a Richmond resident. In a statement, San Pablo police spokesperson Peggy Chou said officers responded about 9:05 p.m. to the 1400 block of Rumrill Boulevard for reports of a shooting.
A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was fatally shot at his home near Boston, and authorities said Tuesday they had launched a homicide investigation. Nuno F.G. Loureiro, a 47-year-old physicist and fusion scientist, was shot Monday night at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts. He died at a local hospital on Tuesday, the Norfolk District Attorney's Office said in a statement. The prosecutor's office said no suspects had been taken into custody as of Tuesday afternoon, and that its investigation was ongoing.
