"A man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 40-year-old man in Wimbledon. Police were called to The Broadway at around midnight on Sunday following reports of a stabbing. The victim, Luke Brereton, was attended to by officers and the London Ambulance Service, but sadly died at the scene. Officers arrested a man in connection with Mr Brereton's death on Sunday. Amar Zafar, 35, of Cambridge Grove Road, Kingston has now been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article."
Luke Brereton, 40, was fatally stabbed in Wimbledon after police were called to The Broadway at around midnight on Sunday. Officers and ambulance service attended, and Brereton died at the scene. A man was arrested and identified as Amar Zafar, 35, of Kingston; he has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article and will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on 23 February. Brereton's next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. The incident is treated as isolated and led by Met Specialist Crime Command homicide detectives.
