Judge Cheryl Higgins sentenced Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. to the maximum allowable penalty of five life sentences, plus 23 years, for the murders of Chandler, Davis and Perry, plus the wounding of running back Mike Hollins and track athlete Marlee Morgan.

A gunman on a motorbike has shot dead the 20-year-old youngest brother of a prominent anti-drug activist in the southern French city of Marseille in a possible warning over his campaigning, a prosecutor said on Friday. Five members of an alleged Brooklyn biker gang face charges of attempted murder and assault following a frenzied East Flatbush gun battle last spring, the Brooklyn District Attorney said Thursday. The bikers turned a residential street "into chaos," Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said in a statement, "sending bystanders running for their lives." On Saturday, someone fired a gun on campus during homecoming weekend at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, killing a visitor from Delaware and injuring six people, including a current student and an alum. University leaders suspended classes Monday for a "day of healing and reflection." Gunshots near Howard University in Washington, D.C., also left four individuals injured Friday night, though Howard officials confirmed in a statement that no one involved in the confrontation, or hurt by it, was affiliated with the institution.

BROOKLYN, NY - A man has been charged after shooting three people outside a Brooklyn hospital last week, police said on Friday. Allan Joseph, 52, has been charged with attempted murder, assault and gun possession, among other offenses, in connection with the Oct. 24 incident, police said. The three victims appear to be innocent bystanders. A 33-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh, a 16-year-old boy was struck in the hip and a 15-year-old suffered a graze wound to the foot.

On Tuesday, he will introduce a resolution calling on city leaders to fund violence prevention programs for the neighborhood's youth, who he says are getting caught up in the area's drug and crime troubles. NYPD officials said officers responded to a 911 call about a person shot around 10:45 a.m. Thursday inside a house on 108th Avenue near 173rd Street in Jamaica. Officers from the 47th Precinct responded around 12:01 p.m. on Oct. 5 to a 911 call reporting multiple people shot inside a home at 633 E. 230th St. in Wakefield, according to the NYPD. A Santa Rosa restaurant owner was arrested early Sunday after police say he fired a gun during a dispute with a customer over a bill. Moises Flores, 48, was taken into custody shortly after the altercation, reported about 4:10 a.m. at Dos Culturas Restaurant, 1709 Santa Rosa Ave., according to the Santa Rosa Police Department. He faces allegations including assault with a deadly weapon and shooting at an occupied vehicle.
