
"Former NFL player Kevin Johnson's death this week is being investigated as a homicide. Johnson, 55, was found dead near a homeless encampment on Tuesday in Los Angeles, TMZ reports. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department opened a homicide investigation after the LA County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and stab wounds. Unfortunately it appears he was homeless, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Steve De Jong told Newsweek."
"He played two seasons with the NFC East club before a lone season with the Oakland Raiders. He went on two seasons for the Orlando Predators winning the 1998 championship and one with the Los Angeles Avengers in the Arena Football League. A Southern California native, Johnson attended Westchester High School in Los Angeles and played at Los Angeles Harbor College before heading to to Texas Southern University in Houston as a junior college transfer."
