A motorcyclist died Thursday after colliding with a sedan in what police said was a DUI-related wreck involving another driver. The crash happened about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Buchanan Road and Woodborough Place. Officers arrived to find the 46-year-old Concord resident down. He died despite rescue efforts by police and medical personnel.

A pedestrian was killed on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Monday night, authorities said. The person was struck by a vehicle near Winding Way about 7:30 p.m., Lt. Aaron Jacob of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. The driver was cooperative and stayed at the scene, Jacob said. Investigators do not suspect drugs, alcohol or speeding played a role in the collision, he said. The incident is still under investigation.

The driver of a minivan hit and killed a philanthropist who was cycling north up Riverside Drive in Washington Heights late on Sunday, according to friends and cops. Cops say the wreck unfolded a little after 9 p.m. on Sunday at Riverside Drive and 158th Street when a 37-year-old driver of a white Toyota minivan struck the 78-year-old biker from behind. The driver remained at the scene and has not been charged. The investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.
Around 7:21 a.m. that morning, Hopkinton, Rhode Island, police received a report of a single-car crash near 42 Spring St. (Route 138) in Hope Valley. A single-car crash in Rehoboth left the driver dead and three juvenile passengers injured on Monday morning. An 8-year-old girl was killed Wednesday when she was struck by an ambulance in Van Buren, a town in northern Maine, according to Maine State Police. Just after 4 p.m., state police responded to a crash near Kennedy Terrace and Main Street in Van Buren, where an ambulance traveling north fatally struck Emma Cormier. The girl was attempting to cross the street when she was hit, state police said in a statement.
