"According to prosecutors, Croswell got out of his vehicle after the collision and pulled his 24-year-old girlfriend from the passenger seat as his car later caught fire. They allege he then attempted to leave the scene, dragging her for about a block and a half while asking passing motorists if they were Uber drivers, before police found him on Pacific Street."
Kashawn Croswell, 28, was convicted on January 22 of second-degree manslaughter, two counts of second-degree assault, reckless driving, excessive speed and disobeying traffic control signal indications. Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Jane Tully sentenced him to an indeterminate term of three to nine years. The crash occurred about 3:21 a.m. on August 18, 2023, when Croswell allegedly ran three consecutive red lights and entered an intersection at about 62 miles per hour, T-boning a westbound car and killing 21-year-old front-seat passenger Shanti Joyner. Croswell reportedly pulled his 24-year-old girlfriend from his car as it caught fire, then dragged her while attempting to leave until police located him on Pacific Street. Three other people were injured.
