Caracas - Jesús Montero, a Venezuelan who once played for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners, died Sunday following a traffic accident in his country two weeks ago, the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League said. He was 35. The former catcher's motorcycle reportedly crashed into a truck on Oct. 4 and he had been hospitalized ever since in critical condition. He was unable to recover from multiple injuries, authorities said.
A woman died after striking a deer with her motorcycle in Maine on Saturday. At 7:30 p.m., Dexter Police responded to a motorcycle accident on Route 7 northbound. Police reported the 63-year-old motorcyclist hit the deer as it crossed the roadway. The woman, whose name has not been released, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northern Light Medical Center in Bangor.
Shortly before 10am, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident on Churchtown Road Upper, Dundrum. The on-duty Garda member was taken to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, a Garda spokesperson said.
