Orla Wates, a 19-year-old from London, died in a motorcycle accident while traveling the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam. She was on a gap year before starting her studies at Durham University. After her death on April 2, her family chose to donate her organs, helping five critically ill patients. Her parents described her as beautiful, independent, and funny, and emphasized the importance of giving back to Vietnam, a country she loved. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office expressed condolences and offered support to her family.
