A train carrying 250 people has derailed partially in southern Mexico, killing at least 13 people and injuring 98, according to officials. The Mexican Navy said that the Interoceanic Train linking the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz went off the rails on Sunday as it passed a curve near the town of Nizanda. It said that 98 people were injured and that, unfortunately, 13 people lost their lives. The train was carrying nine crew members and 241 passengers at the time of the accident.

SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- A surfer is recovering after being bitten by a shark at North Salmon Creek Beach in Sonoma County Friday morning, according to authorities. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook that the surfer was bitten on the hand and was able to get out of the water before fire crews arrived. Officials say the surfer declined medical treatment at the scene and transported themselves to the hospital.

A Port Authority bus slammed into a building in Midtown during the Thursday evening rush hour, amNewYork has learned. OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Four people were injured after an AC Transit bus crashed into a building in Oakland on Tuesday afternoon, according to fire officials. The crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Foothill and 68th Ave. SKY7 was over the scene, which showed the front of the bus several feet inside a building. Fire officials say the crash trapped the bus driver, who had to be rescued by crews.

A young man pulled nearly lifeless from the waters just off the Coney Island boardwalk died at the hospital Monday morning, cops said. The unidentified man - believed to be in his 30s - was unconscious and unresponsive when cops responded to a 911 call around 7:30 a.m. and found him floating in the Atlantic on the east side of the iconic Brooklyn beach, police said. A witness told police he'd been in the water for a "period of time," sources said.
