Galway rescue teams deployed to injured hiker stranded on mountain
Rescue teams were called to Mount Gable in Galway after 5pm on Sunday, May 25, following reports that an injured hiker could not descend. Galway Mountain Rescue responded alongside Rescue 115. Mountain rescue team members assessed the casualty and provided care at the scene. They also assisted other members of the party down the mountain. Rescue 115 airlifted the injured hiker from the mountain to hospital for further treatment. Galway Mountain Rescue wished the casualty a full and speedy recovery and thanked the teams involved, including Mayo Mountain Rescue Team, which was on standby. Rescue 115 reported the task was completed successfully and the hiker was airlifted to UH Galway.
"Today at 5.21pm our team was tasked by An Garda Síochána to respond to an incident on Mount Gable where a hiker has sustained injuries and was unable to descend. "Mountain rescue team members assessed the casualty and provided care on site. They assisted the other party members down the hill while Rescue 115 airlifted the casualty to hospital for further care. "We wish the casualty a full and speedy recovery and hope to see them in the hills again soon! Many thanks as always to all involved, including Mayo Mountain Rescue Team for being on standby to assist!""
