Tiffany Howell, 47, had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when she drove her personal vehicle south in the highway's northbound lanes at more than 50 mph and collided with 61-year-old Peekskill resident Manuel Boitel on the night of Jan. 22 in Westchester County, according to the indictment.

The force of the impact sent the Accord off the road onto a grassy shoulder, where it slammed into a tree.

A motorcyclist died Thursday after colliding with a sedan in what police said was a DUI-related wreck involving another driver. The crash happened about 4:45 p.m. in the area of Buchanan Road and Woodborough Place. Officers arrived to find the 46-year-old Concord resident down. He died despite rescue efforts by police and medical personnel.
Oswaldo Alvarez Galeano, 56, was struck and killed by a Toyota Matrix as he ran across Meadow Lane in Concord a little before 8 p.m. on Dec. 12, authorities said. A 41-year-old woman, the suspected driver, stayed at the scene and was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. She was later released from custody and has not been charged, court records show.
