Two critically injured after apparent DUI crash in East Bay
"A 21-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl were in critical condition at a hospital following a single-car crash early Thursday that appears to be alcohol-related, police said. The crash happened about 1:15 a.m. to the area of Lone Tree Way and Dallas Ranch Road. In a statement, Antioch police Lt. Michael Mellone said the 17-year-old was driving and the two both were trapped in the vehicle after the crash."
"Emergency personnel used life-saving measures to get them in an ambulance and off to a hospital. Both had major injuries, and one of the two had life-threatening injuries. Police declined to specify who it was. Mellone said the preliminary investigation indicated that alcohol appears to be a factor in the wreck, along with speeding. In the statement, he added a reminder that impaired driving puts lives at risk."
