Police were alerted to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a car at 9:57pm on Thursday, October 30, on Aspen Way in Canary Wharf. Both ambulance services and police attended. Despite the best efforts of first responders, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 34-year-old man has died after a collision on Old Kent Road on Friday morning. Footage has been released by police of a driver dangerously drifting around a roundabout at an illegal car meet, putting watching crowds at risk of being seriously injured. Daniel Broomfield, 23, from Southampton, was sentenced at Winchester crown court on 25 September to a 27-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. He was also banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to carry out unpaid work and a rehabilitation programme.
A 31-year-old parent is facing two charges after allegedly driving dangerously through the property of their child's school in Oshawa Friday, Durham police say. At 3:40 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of a vehicle driving dangerously through the parking lot and sports field at G.L. Roberts Collegiate Vocational Institute, Durham police said in a news release Tuesday. The vehicle was also seen driving dangerously toward students in the area, before the driver fled along a nearby waterfront trail, police said.
