Two backseat passengers in a Nissan sedan Bobbi Smith, 24, of Buena Park and Gilberto Lopez, 21, of Midway City died at the scene, police said. The driver and front-seat passenger in the sedan, and the driver of a Kia Soul also involved in the crash, were hospitalized, police said."
Ahkeyajahnique Owens, 24, of Long Beach, turned herself in on Jan. 6 for an October collision that later killed a bicyclist, and she faces a voluntary manslaughter charge in that case. Prosecutors added four charges related to a Jan. 4 crash: two counts of murder, reckless driving causing specified injury, and hit-and-run driving resulting in death or serious bodily injury. While released on her own recognizance after the October crash, Owens was accused of speeding, running a red light, and colliding with vehicles on Jan. 4. Two backseat passengers died at the scene and other occupants were hospitalized. Owens allegedly fled the Jan. 4 scene and is held on $400,000 bail, with a next court appearance scheduled for March 16.
