MSP arrests Maine man after he allegedly crashed truck twice while on drugs
"Beaulieu allegedly drove the truck into the main entrance of a Burger King located at the rest stop, according to a police report filed in court. Troopers found that the front doors had been bashed in, and the overnight manager later told them that she saw the truck back up, do donuts in the parking lot, and leave the scene, according to officials."
"About an hour later, Westport police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving the same truck on Forge Road, according to state police. Troopers identified Beaulieu as the driver at the scene, determined that he was impaired, and arrested him without incident, according to officials. When police searched Beaulieu's vehicle, they allegedly found a bag containing a "plant material" believed to be treated with synthetic cannabinoids consistent with what is commonly known as K2 or spice, according to the police report."
"Andrew Beaulieu, 30, of Carthage, Maine, has been charged with possession of a class C drug, operating under the influence of drugs, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, court records showed. He was arraigned Thursday in Fall River District Court and pleaded not guilty. Beaulieu was released on personal recognizance and is due back in court March 3, according to court records. His attorney, Michael DiGioia, declined to comment on the charges Sunday."
At about 4 a.m., Massachusetts State Police issued a "be on the lookout" for a truck that had crashed into a rest stop on Route 24 South in Bridgewater. The truck reportedly had Maine registration plates. The driver allegedly drove into the main entrance of the Burger King at the rest stop, damaging the front doors; the overnight manager said she saw the truck back up, do donuts in the parking lot, and leave. About an hour later the same truck crashed on Forge Road in Westport, where troopers identified and arrested 30-year-old Andrew Beaulieu after determining he was impaired. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up plant material believed to be treated with synthetic cannabinoids commonly known as K2 or spice. Beaulieu was arraigned, pleaded not guilty, and was released on personal recognizance pending a March 3 court date.
