A well-known Malaysian rapper and film-maker, Namewee, has been arrested in relation to the alleged murder of a Taiwanese woman in Kuala Lumpur. Hsieh Yu-hsin, 31, a former nurse turned internet celebrity who posted under the name Nurse Goddess, was found dead in a hotel room on 22 October. Police this week reclassified her death as murder, after unspecified new evidence emerged. Malaysian media reported that Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, called emergency services after finding Hsieh unresponsive in a hotel room
The large gathering turned out to be for a video entitled "The Apes & Gators took us to the MOST DANGEROUS hood in Sacramento," by Star Quality Entertainment, a popular YouTube channel with more than 100,000 subscribers. In the 44-minute video various participants, including a man identified by prosecutors as Stratton, are seen flashing weapons and speaking in general terms about the surrounding area as fireworks go off in the background.
When officers approached to investigate, Rice allegedly took off and led police on a brief chase. As the foot pursuit continued onto nearby Kenilworth Street, police allege Rice fired a gun at the officers and struck one of them in the arm. Police returned fire and struck Rice, and both he and the wounded officer were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
