MSP trooper dragged by vehicle during East Boston stop
"A Massachusetts State Police trooper was taken to the hospital early Thursday morning after being dragged by a car in East Boston, authorities said. Shortly before 2:30 a.m., the trooper stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Central Square and Meridian Street in East Boston, according to a statement from State Police. While conducting the stop, the trooper ran the driver's information and discovered he was driving with a suspended license, police said."
"When the trooper attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle to facilitate a tow, the driver shifted gears and sped away, dragging the trooper approximately 10 to 20 feet, MSP said. The trooper sustained nonlife-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Later that morning, troopers with the New Hampshire State Police located the vehicle in their jurisdiction and arrested the driver, police said."
"The suspect was identified as Binit Bikram Shah, 27, of Raymond, New Hampshire, according to a press release from NHSP. During the on-scene investigation, troopers observed that Shah showed signs of impairment, according to NHSP. Shah was charged with felony possession of controlled drugs and misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs or liquor, driving after revocation or suspension, operating without a valid license, possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, and contempt of court for an alleged breach of bail conditions,"

New Hampshire State Police located and arrested the vehicle and driver in their jurisdiction later that morning. The suspect, identified as Binit Bikram Shah, 27, faces multiple charges including felony drug possession and DUI, and East Boston assault charges are expected.
