A former employee of Golden State Cider has filed a lawsuit alleging the Healdsburg company retaliated against him for taking time off to care for his premature baby, as first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms). Emilio Arellano, a cellar supervisor who worked at the popular Bay Area cider company for nearly eight years, filed the suit in San Francisco Superior Court on Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein, who is overseeing the case, ruled this month that parts of Stonelake's suit had merit, and the case will move forward. "I hope this ruling encourages others who have experienced discrimination and toxic workplace cultures to consider the courts as one way to push for justice and accountability," Stonelake said in a statement given to TechCrunch.
Finn Doering, a high-end male model, recorded the police arresting Tarasi Watkins in a Manhattan subway station and was subsequently arrested himself by police officers. His attorney claims this action was retaliatory.
Collins' alleged harassment extended to other female employees, preventing them from conducting required security work and leading them into non-compliance situations.
