20 hours agoResident Evil Requiem Is Getting a Story Expansion, Capcom Confirms
Capcom confirmed a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in development, along with a photo mode and May mini-game update.
In one of the earliest Grace sections in the game, the FBI agent wakes up in a care center crawling with zombies and the living results of grotesque experiments. One of them is known as the Girl. She's a giant monster that chases Grace throughout the facility with childlike fixation. She wants to "play" with Grace, which means she wants to eat her.
As Grace, you'll escape the horrifying monster called The Girl while you're exploring Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, and in the chase, the creature will lose one of its hands. While it's not required, you can pick up the severed hand and take it with you, but it doesn't have any apparent use from the get go.
Spencer's actions have created a world obsessed with bioweapons and that legacy is at the heart of Resident Evil Requiem, a brilliant celebration of the landmark survival-horror series. The project features two protagonists: Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst whose traumatic past catches up to her, and Leon Kennedy, a survivor of the Raccoon City incident and hardened veteran of several Resident Evil campaigns.
At the climax of the game, Grace is forced to make a decision between destroying or releasing something called Elpis. The choice is binary and not influenced by anything else you've done in the game up to that point, but what you choose to do will lead to one of two conclusions.
Once you're done watching the credits roll, you'll be back at the main menu. You'll notice that you've unlocked various goodies, including: Insanity Mode is a high difficulty option for those who want to test their skills. A behind-the-scenes video, concept art, and character model viewing. The Jacket costume for Grace and Leon, as well as the Tactical Light skin for Leon's Alligator Snapper weapon.
The Care Center Parlor is akin to a one-stop shop, since it contains various upgrades for Grace. To access it, go to the 2F Chairman's Office and pick up the Unicorn Trinket Box. Examine it to acquire the Red Jewel. Then, head back to the 1F corridor and use the Red Jewel on the door indentation.
Resident Evil Requiem's overall Metacritic score after 100 PS5 reviews sits at 89 as of February 25 at around 10:40 a.m. EST. If this score holds, it would be the highest-rated mainline Resident Evil game since 2005's Resident Evil 4.
The Nintendo Switch was a massive success, but it was built primarily on the strength of first-party and less-demanding third-party games. We all knew you didn't turn to the Switch for the visual splendor offered on its competitors. The Switch 2 has brought things slightly more towards parity, and we've seen a few third-party standouts like Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws that push the hardware.
Between the new Macs, iPhones and rumored AI gadgets, Apple surprised us with an upgraded, second-generation AirTag. It has Apple's latest Ultra Wideband chip - the same one used in the iPhone 17 lineup and the Apple Watch Ultra 3. It also uses Precision Finding to reach items up to 50 percent further away than the previous AirTag model. This feature will now work with any Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2 or newer.
Despite all the horrors dreamed up by developers, the series' workhorse has always been the infected. Those subsumed by viruses or mold have been at the core of the experience, and Capcom has always worked to upgrade them. The infected don't just mindlessly follow players as they did in the original. In Resident Evil 4, they learned to use tools and corner Leon Kennedy.
After announcing a showcase for early 2026 last year, Capcom has now confirmed exactly when the event event will take place--January 15 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET. The Resident Evil Showcase will include "brand-new gameplay and news" for Resident Evil Requiem, the newest entry in the series that's due for release on February 27. That's all that Capcom has confirmed thus far, so it remains to be seen what else the company may have on tap.
Set in the distant future, Pragmata puts players in the space boots of Hugh, an astronaut stranded on a lunar research station. With the defense mechanisms of the facility activated and hunting him down, Hugh finds an unlikely ally in his quest to escape: Diana, an android who resembles a young girl. While Diana isn't a fighter, she can ride shotgun on Hugh's back and hack them so that their weak points can be exposed.

Gamescom 2025 is wrapping up this weekend, but the winners of the annual Gamescom Awards have already been named. This year's biggest winner was Resident Evil Requiem, which took home four awards, including Best Sony PlayStation Game. There were some surprises along the way--including the winner of the inaugural Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game--and there were surprise winners among the indie titles like Windup's Hela, which won two awards against stiff competition from more established games like Donkey Kong Bananza.
I've played dozens of horror games, and consider myself acclimated to the scary elements that startle a lot of other people. I love a spooky atmosphere and an unsettling tone that creeps under your skin, and I'm not afraid to admit that Resident Evil Requiem got me good. I knew something was coming - I was in a room with other previewers who occasionally jumped or gasped - but I still practically leaped out of my skin.
