PS5 Pro Visual Upgrade Incoming With New PSSR Update
"The upgraded PSSR has allowed us to elevate our expressiveness by successfully processing these details and textural particularities, which are traditionally difficult to upscale because of their intricacy. We hope you will experience this unprecedented level of horror and visual fidelity, and the new gameplay feel it delivers."
"We look forward to more news in March, when multiple existing games upgrade to the improved PSSR. Once the system update releases next month, try it and see; some games may have noticeably crisper graphics."
Sony is rolling out an upgraded version of its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling technology for the PS5 Pro console. The new version features a different approach to both the neural network and overall PSSR algorithm, developed through Sony's Project Amethyst partnership with AMD. Capcom demonstrated the upgrade's benefits in Resident Evil Requiem, where enhanced PSSR successfully processes intricate details like individually rendered hair strands with realistic movement and light interaction. The upgraded technology handles traditionally difficult-to-upscale textures and fine details more effectively. The system update will roll out next month with six months of additional refinement planned, with multiple existing games receiving PSSR upgrades in March.
