Resident Evil Requiem Producer Calls Leon Rumors Fake News
"Apart from any official information that Capcom has released, the rest is more detective work [on the part of players],"
"So I would suggest to please not take everything at face value."
"Considering that now is the time when AI [can be used to make] videos and photos, we don't know what's right or what's wrong. It's just that players are free to believe what they would like to believe; what I'd like to tell is that, please, unless it's officially released from Capcom, we can't give you any confirmation."
Resident Evil Requiem launches in February for consoles and PC and features Grace Ashcroft as the only confirmed playable character. The game returns to slower, creepier survival horror and supports both third‑ and first‑person perspectives. Fans immediately began theorizing that Leon S. Kennedy could appear or be playable, citing limited revealed footage, a leaked eyepatch photo, and perceived coyness from Capcom. Producer Masato Kumazawa called much of the speculation "detective work" and warned against taking unverified claims at face value. Kumazawa also noted that AI can create convincing fake media and advised waiting for official Capcom confirmation.
