Amazon Cancels Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders Without Warning
"Players who pre-ordered Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil Requiem through Amazon are discovering the scariest part of the survival horror sequel might not even be in the game. Instead, many are fearful to check their email and discover their order has been canceled. Resident Evil Requiem is out February 27 on consoles and PC. And like every other major video game release of the last decade, will come in a few different versions that players can pre-order ahead of time."
"One of these versions is a Deluxe Steelbook version of Resident Evil Requiem that comes with all digital goodies you expect, like skins and costumes, as well as a hardy steelbook cover and some extra lenticular cards. A lot of people wanted this version of the game, leading to it selling out quickly. So when Amazon reopened pre-orders for it, people took advantage of the opportunity."
"Checking the Resident Evil subreddit today, you'll find plenty of posts from people sharing the horror that their Requiem pre-order has been canceled. It seems that many of these people ordered the Deluxe Steelbook edition of Resident Evil Requiem when Amazon recently opened up pre-orders again. But Amazon seems to have sold more than Capcom was able to provide, and emailed many customers that it had canceled and refunded their order because it was no longer "available from the supplier.""
Resident Evil Requiem releases February 27 on consoles and PC and offers multiple editions, including a Deluxe Steelbook with digital bonuses, a steelbook cover, and lenticular cards. The Deluxe Steelbook sold out quickly, and when Amazon reopened pre-orders it appears to have accepted more orders than Capcom could supply. Amazon canceled and refunded many Deluxe pre-orders citing unavailability from the supplier. Some customers kept orders but now face shipping delays into March. Amazon listed an "Amazon Exclusive Edition" with a poster as a replacement, but that edition also ships after launch, preventing play at release.
