Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street party in Europe with more than two million people attending each year to follow the three-mile (5km) parade. Partygoers can expect an eclectic and dazzling parade showcasing the best of masquerade dancing, soca, calypso, steel bands and sound systems. This year there will be a 72-second silence for the victims of the Grenfell disaster, as well as new policing methods.

Notting Hill Carnival, occurring this August bank holiday weekend, features steel drum bands, sound systems, feather-clad dancers, and thousands of attendees over three days.

Kensington and Chelsea Council confirmed that the concrete blocks will be temporarily removed for two weeks from Monday, while road closures will remain on market days between 10:00 BST and 16:00.

Over a million people will descend on West London across Sunday 25th & Monday 26th August for Notting Hill Carnival 2024, which is Europe's biggest street party.

Matthew Phillip defended the two-day event as "one of the few creative and cultural outlets left for our youth" after it was marred by violence in recent years.

The Notting Hill Carnival will take place this year after nearly £1 million was raised for safety and infrastructure improvements necessary for the event.

London offers plenty of activities in August, including theaters, art exhibitions, pop-ups, and vibrant festivals such as South Facing, All Points East, and Field Day.
