Notting Hill Carnival runs from Saturday 23 to Monday 25 August, returning for its 57th year in west London. The event features a three-mile parade, Panorama steel pan competition, masquerade dancing, soca, calypso, steel bands and street sound systems. Saturday hosts Panorama at Emslie Horniman Pleasance Park. J'Ouvert will not start before sunrise this year but bands will join the main parade with paint. An official opening ceremony and children's day activities include the "Dutty" fun mas. A 72-second silence at 15:00 on Sunday and Monday will commemorate the Grenfell victims. Monday concludes with the adult's parade and colourful costumes.
Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street party in Europe with more than two million people attending each year to follow the three-mile (5km) parade. Partygoers can expect an eclectic and dazzling parade showcasing the best of masquerade dancing, soca, calypso, steel bands and sound systems.
