In a video that has been widely circulated on social media and seen by the Irish Independent, members of the winning St. Kieran's team can be seen climbing onto the fence separating the pitch from the spectator stands following the final whistle. The fence then collapses causing supporters to fall onto the pitch leading to a pile-up with people reportedly injured from the fall itself and from other supporters landing on top of them.

Police have asked Londoners to avoid certain areas as the force gears up for one of the busiest nights of the year. Met Police officers told New Year's Eve revellers to plan their night in advance, including checking Tube, bus and rail updates before leaving the house. The force asked people to consider attending local events rather than heading into central London, which will be awash with thousands of people ringing in the new year on Wednesday December 31.

A stampede at a rally for a popular Indian actor and politician in the southern state of Tamil Nadu killed at least 36 people and injured 40 others, the state's health minister said late Saturday. Ma Subramanian told The Associated Press that the victims were dead by the time they were taken to a hospital and that the injured were stable. The dead included eight children, Subramanian said.

Thousands of people typically gather at the north London beauty spot on 31 December each year to celebrate and watch fireworks light up the skies across London, with as many as 30,000 turning out last year. Royal Parks said the decision partly was due to the upcoming closure of the Metropolitan Police the Royal Parks unit, which is usually deployed to manage crowds.

"I believe Astroworld 2021 was not an accident... It was an inevitability due to the lack of foresight and the abandonment of basic safety protocols."
