The Notting Hill Carnival is set to proceed this August Bank holiday after securing additional funding for safety measures. The event faced serious safety concerns following multiple crowd incidents and two murders that marred its reputation. City Hall, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster councils will contribute an extra £958,000 to provide private stewards to ensure crowd control. Although carnival organizers sought funding from the government, they expressed disappointment at the lack of support from the Department for Culture. Organizers appreciate the assistance from local authorities and the Metropolitan Police in promoting safety.
