Kayla Renee Corrigan, our beloved daughter, died tragically on December 24, 2025, in a house fire that shook the town of Needham, Massachusetts. She was 21 years old. In the midst of this enormous loss, the force of her powerful personality gives us strength in moments of despair. Kayla was born on April 30, 2004, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to Christa and Jim Corrigan, and moved with her family to Needham in 2007.

The Gaston County Office of Emergency Management and Fire Services said on Facebook that multiple fire departments were dispatched to a possible house fire with entrapment Sunday night. The victims were identified Monday as Dennis Hamlin and Mary Lou Hamlin, according to Charlotte station WSOC.
The father has smashed his way out of the house through a bathroom window in order to try to access the children's bedroom via the outside. He has been unable to enter the property via that bedroom window. He has then tried to re-enter the property through the bathroom window, by which stage the fire has taken hold in the bathroom and he's unable to get back into the upstairs bedrooms.
A child has died and a second has been taken to hospital after a house fire in Kent, emergency services have said. The blaze occurred in White Admiral Way in the village of Hamstreet, near Ashford, on Sunday. Kent fire and rescue service (KFRS) said an intense fire had spread throughout the semi-detached property when firefighters arrived shortly after 12.10pm. Six fire engines and a height vehicle were sent to tackle the flames, it said.
"We haven't determined the cause of this fire yet, but we know that tragedies like this one are most common in the winter months," State Fire Marshal Jon Davine said in a statement. "Please be sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home and a practiced escape plan in the event of an emergency."
A man has been found guilty of murdering his former partner's sister and her three children in a house fire in Bradford. Sharaz Ali, 40, was convicted at Doncaster Crown Court of murdering Bryonie Gawith and her children Denisty, nine, Oscar, five, and Aubree Birtle, 22 months. He was also convicted of attempting to murder his former partner, Bryonie's sister Antonia Gawith.
A woman has died after a blaze tore through a home in south-west London. Firefighters were called to Broome Road in Hampton just after 1.20am on Sunday, following reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews found half of the fire floor of a mid-terraced property had been damaged by the fire, London Fire Brigade said. One woman was tragically found dead at the scene. The fire was extinguished by 4am. The cause of the fire is under investigation, LFB said.
A house fire in Mississauga on Halloween night is being investigated as suspicious, Peel police say. Just before 9 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a residential fire in the area of Mississauga and Kane roads, where they found Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services crews working to extinguish a blaze at a two-storey home, Peel police said in an email. The house sustained heavy damage as a result.
A boy with severe autism who died in a fire in Oshawa earlier this month was a joyful and friendly child who loved dancing to Disney songs and playing dress up, his mother said. Bentley Dunn, 11, was found dead inside a trailer that had caught fire on Oct. 18. He loved to run around and be free, he was very much a free spirit, said his mother, Amanda Dunn.
In the afternoon we prayed at home together, then we went to the gurdwara in Southall and visited with some family nearby. We all had dinner together and put the children to bed ready for school the next day. Shortly after that, I saw the fire. I tried to go upstairs to help my family, but I lost consciousness. The FDNY received a call just after 6:20 a.m. on Sept. 12 of a fire in a two-story private home at 15-11 124th St., and arriving units found heavy fire and some conditions emanating from the home. A second alarm was transmitted just before 6:30 a.m. bringing a total of 25 units with 120 firefighters and EMS personnel to the scene between 15th Avenue and 18th Avenue, according to the FDNY.
