A fire broke out in the Creston Avenue area at about 12.45am and emergency services extinguished the blaze in the early hours of New Year's Eve. Five occupants were brought by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial and Temple Street Children's hospitals: a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 20s, two teenage girls and a teenage boy. The woman in her 40s and the teenage boy suffered serious injuries while the other three sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Four of the five occupants have been discharged and continue to receive medical attention. The woman in her 40s remains hospitalized with serious but stable injuries. Gardaí are investigating and appealing for witnesses in the Creston area between midnight and 1.00am.
