A Christmas Eve fire tore through a three-story single-family home in Needham, causing catastrophic damage and prompting a four-alarm response that brought about 75 firefighters. The accidental blaze began in the garage and heavy smoke and flames pushed responders back when they attempted to enter just before 5 a.m. Two adults escaped the house; first responders later found 21-year-old Kayla Renee Corrigan dead inside. A GoFundMe launched to assist the displaced Corrigan family has surpassed its $150,000 goal, raising close to $170,000 to cover funeral, memorial, temporary housing, and necessities. Kayla was a senior at Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management studying marketing management and active in Sigma Delta Tau.
