A 24-year-old man has been charged with robbing a local store owner, in an incident where the 72-year-old victim was run over by his assailants' car as they made off with $7,000 worth of cartons, court records show. Police describe them as a band of determined robbers who followed a man and his wife from a wholesale cigarette supplier in San Leandro to a parking lot in Concord.
An Alabama attorney has been accused of trying to poison her husband with a substance she believed to be fentanyl. Sara Baker, 74, of Vinemont, Alabama, is accused of putting the substance in her husband's food or drink on three separate occasions in September, report the Cullman Tribune, Law & Crime, ABC 33/40, WAFF 48 and WVTM 13.
The January 2019 beating 88-yearold Yik Oi Huang, popularly known as Popo Huang around her Visitacion Valley neighborhood, seemed a particularly brutal example of elder abuse. Huang was badly bludgeoned after the early morning attack at Visitacion Valley Playground, where she was found bloodied in a sandbox with head injuries, a broken spine, broken hand, and broken ribs. Her shirt had been pulled up and her pants pulled down below beneath her waist, her shoes stolen, and her house keys stolen too.
Maria Martin, 38, is charged with larceny from a building, vandalizing property, and permitting abuse on an elder or disabled person, according to Rutland police. She allegedly lived with the elderly Rutland resident under the guise of being a caretaker. When the elderly woman returned home, the locks had been changed, and drug paraphernalia was found around the house.
'The incident included inappropriate yanking, pulling and manhandling of the victim, along with raising her voice and threatening him with police involvement and violence.'
