Galina Smirnova, 95, a dementia patient at Seagate Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Coney Island, was charged with murdering her 89-year-old roommate, Holocaust survivor Nina Kravtsov, using a wheelchair pedal. Staff found Kravtsov with a severe head gash and blood splattered in the room late Sunday; one pedal was bloody on the floor and the other was tossed out a window. Smirnova had arrived Friday and shared a room with Kravtsov. Kravtsov died after being taken to NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital. Smirnova faces murder and weapons charges and was held at Bellevue Hospital jail ward.
