Woman accused of shoving woman, 63, off MBTA bus reaches plea deal
"Luz Pineda, 32, admitted to sufficient facts on Friday in Roxbury District Court, where a judge ordered that she not ride the MBTA. Other conditions of her plea deal include home confinement for three months, except for any medical appointments for herself or her children, enforced by GPS. Pineda must also complete an anger management course, stay away from the victim, and continue with mental health treatment, according to the DA's office."
"Prosecutors recommended a suspended sentence of 60 days in prison, 30 days to be served, and 10 hours of community service. Pineda was charged with one count of assault and battery on an elder or disabled person with injury for shoving the woman, a fellow passenger, off an MBTA bus near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Warren Street. The incident was caught on surveillance video."
"According to investigators, Pineda and the victim began arguing after the victim refused to step off the bus to let Pineda, who had an infant with her, exit. The argument escalated when Pineda pushed the victim off the bus and onto the sidewalk. Police saw that the victim had a laceration at the outer corner of her left eye and was bleeding from her head. Officials say that after leaving the bus, Pineda changed her clothes and hairstyle in an apparent attempt to avoid being identified."
