The Department of Justice acted to restore its solemn duty to seek, obtain, and implement lawful capital sentences, clearing the way for the Department to carry out executions once death-sentenced inmates have exhausted their appeals.

Logan David Patterson, 18, of Plymouth, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 20, of Bourne, agreed to a plea deal in exchange for prosecutors recommending a lighter sentence, according to court filings.

Zera Lola Zombie filed a federal lawsuit in 2021 alleging abuse during her time at Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, where she was subjected to repeated harm.

Damian Halfkenny, 54, of Boston, was charged with one count of wire fraud, U.S. Attorney Leah Foley's office said. A plea hearing has not yet been scheduled.
