BARCELONA lifeguards have called off an extended 27-day strike on Thursday, August 28, after finally reaching an agreement with the Barcelona City Council. The lifeguards had been protesting in a strike organised by the CGT Union to secure a more beneficial labour agreement and to obtain more job stability. The nearly month-long strike reached an end after the lifeguards were able to reach an agreement with the Council that landed them improvements to their working conditions and action to meet their most important demands.

Workers walked off the job, demanding that the university host a private unionization election so they could vote and win recognition of the union-all without having to go through the Trump-era National Labor Relations Board. But after workers protested during the May 16 commencement ceremony, GLU representatives told them that organizing committee members had voted unanimously to "pause" the strike. And, with fall semester classes starting Monday, the organizers say they have no plans to rekindle it.

Trash pickup is set to resume Saturday after Republic Services and the Teamsters reached a tentative deal Friday, ending a nearly two-week strike that left garbage piling up across cities from San Jose to Fairfield.
Thomas Chang, OCEU's vice-president for Toronto, said the WSIB rejected the latest offer. "OCEU remains available to negotiate, but needs to see a meaningful move by the employer to meet our member core needs," Chang told the rally.
Stagecoach West Scotland have not improved their pay offer in six months. The drivers are being asked to fund a pay rise by working longer hours, taking longer unpaid breaks and losing a week of annual leave. This is simply unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated by Unite. Widespread and prolonged industrial action is set to hit bus services across the west of Scotland because this company doesn't seem capable of listening to its workers.
