Barcelona defeated OL Lyon 4-0 in the Champions League final, turning a first-half deficit into a dominant second-half performance led by key scorers.
With the rain now beginning to fall, Donard/Glen began to enjoy a period of dominance. Points from Katie Tyrell and Aoife Grace had them ahead by 1-3 to 0-1 at the end of the opening quarter. The long-striking Tyrell, out of the game for a long period owing to injury, showed that she has lost none of her skill and had an increasing influence as the game progressed. She pointed again before a 20 th-minute free from Ella Andrews registered a second point for Éire Óg.
Ardee eventually opened the scoring on 27 minutes with a fine counter-attacking move. Duleek went one-on-one with Declan Butler and the keeper pulled off a save. He quickly released the ball and at the end of a swift move Adam Farrell played in Shane O'Donoghue who hit a well struck shot past Clear.
We mentioned it after the draw, but it wasn't something we really dwelt on. I said it to the lads that we have other things, more pressing matters than revenge. We needed to be better, play better, our application needed to be better. We were very flat against Laois and needed to guard against that.
Sligo were leading 0-3 to 0-1 with eight minutes played thanks to scores from Ryan Lang and Aodhan Hannon. A lovely two-pointer from the influential Thomas Dillon brought the score level. Liam Keane's goal on 19 minutes had Clare ahead after Ryan Lang's free did bring Sligo level. Keane initially fed Dillon, but Sligo defended well to cut out of the space for the Doonbeg man who teed up Keane to shoot past James Broderick.
Needing 144 for victory after a hapless Middlesex batting display, Surrey were momentarily wobbling at 18-2 before Sam Curran's unbeaten 71 and an 88-run partnership with Laurie Evans steered them home. Yet the match also featured one of the strangest dismissals, when Ryan Higgins lost a grip on his bat trying to drive Tom Curran to the rope only for the bat to loop up back over his head and land on his stumps. Higgins' comedic exit rather summed up a performance from Middlesex which failed to gather momentum - and when it did tripped over its own feet.
Carl McHugh's strike seven minutes from time saw the visitors take a huge step forward in their relegation battle to stun the league champions. This was not the farewell Rovers had in mind for captain Pico Lopes as he heads off for the World Cup finals with Cape Verde, while injuries ahead of a Dublin derby double-header next week, could force a rethink from the Hoops in releasing Ed McGinty and Adam Brennan for Ireland duty.
There was no separating Derry City and St Patrick's Athletic at Celtic Park. It is now five games without a win for Tiernan Lynch and his players, this the ninth draw in 18 league games.
The hosts dominated much of the contest and finally broke the deadlock in the 34th minute. Joao Felix delivered an inviting cross following a corner and Sadio Mane rose highest to power a header into the net for 1-0. Al Nassr had already created several chances before the opener. Ronaldo headed over from close range, Mane was denied by goalkeeper Kewin, while Felix and Coman both tested the Damac defence during a lively first half.
"I'm really happy and proud of what the team has achieved; it's incredible to have won 19 home games. "It's down to the connection with the fans and the atmosphere at Camp Nou, which always gives us that extra boost." Flick also added, "It's down to the team and the connection with the fans. "It's an incredible feeling; it gives us an extra 10 per cent. The fans know when we need them."
Newcastle approached the match in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Nick Pope behind a defense of Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Malick Thiaw and Lewis Hall. The midfield was anchored by Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, while Jacob Ramsey operated behind an attacking unit featuring Harvey Barnes, Nick Woltemade and striker William Osula.
St Pat's have taken the lead just before the hour mark as Zach Elbouzedi makes it 2-1. They deserve the moment as the hosts have been much the better side since the restart, but from a Waterford perspective, it is another poor goal to give away as Jordan Houston makes a mess of his clearance, allowing Elbouzedi in to pounce for his first goal since February 27.
Bayern needed a win by two goals to progress in the second leg at Allianz Arena, but they only managed a 1-1 draw against the defending champions. Vincent Kompany went with his strongest starting XI against PSG on Wednesday. There was only one question about who would play at left-back. Alphonso Davies was preferred in the first leg, but the Belgian coach opted to use Josip Stanisic in that role and to start with Konrad Laimer at right-back.
Ismaila Sarr's opener, scored just 21 seconds into the match, marked the earliest goal in Conference League history, setting the tone for Palace's performance.
Dom Sibley posted an unbeaten half-century as Surrey fought back after losing early wickets in their County Championship Division One clash against Essex at the Oval. Opener Sibley shared a 105 partnership with Ollie Pope, who looked in good touch for 69, his third consecutive 50-plus score for Surrey after losing his England Test spot during the winter.
