Duleek march on in North East Football League as Ardee and Bellurgan falter
Ardee Celtic put Duleek under pressure and led 1-0 at half-time after a counter-attacking goal by Shane O’Donoghue. Duleek received two early yellow cards and tested Ardee’s defense, including a crossbar hit. After halftime, Ardee made changes with David Jibona and Davin Starkie, but Duleek equalised on 56 minutes when Tom Reilly headed in from a Cormac McGroggan corner. Duleek then took the lead six minutes later from a free kick on the edge of the box, with Reilly bending the shot over the wall. Ardee missed chances to draw level, and Sean O’Halloran scored a third deep into stoppage time.
"Ardee eventually opened the scoring on 27 minutes with a fine counter-attacking move. Duleek went one-on-one with Declan Butler and the keeper pulled off a save. He quickly released the ball and at the end of a swift move Adam Farrell played in Shane O'Donoghue who hit a well struck shot past Clear."
"Duleek then levelled on 56 minutes. A Cormac McGroggan corner saw Tom Reilly ghost in at the back post and head home. Six minutes later Duleek had taken the lead from another set-piece goal. This time it was a free kick on the edge of the box and Reilly stepped up and bent his shot over the wall and past Butler."
"Ardee made two changes, bringing on David Jibona at half-time and Davin Starkie early in the second half in a bid to add to their advantage, but it didn't paid off and Duleek then levelled on 56 minutes. It was Colin Woods' turn to make a double substitution as the warm conditions were starting to take a toll. Again, Ardee had their chances to draw level, but a profligacy in front of goal cost them."
"So the third goal for Duleek - scored by Sean O'Halloran deep into stoppage time - didn't really reflect the game. That makes it seven top-flight games for Ardee, with just a single win so far, and their upturn in performance isn't getting its just rewards at the moment."
